What I'm reading currently

As much as I wish I could I cannot pull this stuff out of thin air and apply it. I have to like everyone else first study about what I am doing. I spend a lot of time on YouTube watching other people do things but constantly see flaws that will make the design not last as long as I might need it to.

Since I am unable to just download books directly to my Kindle I often do the "sample section" read the reviews and choose from there. Currently I am spreading my reading time out between 3 books. I will share the links and description as given by Amazon for your viewing pleasure. Click on the "Look at it here" tab under the picture to see it at Amazon.

Have you ever thought, "I want to get prepared, but I don't know how to start or what supplies to get", or even, "I don't have the time to do all the research, and I wish someone could help me"? If so, then this book is for you.

When Things Go Boom! was written to be a no fluff guide as to what you can do today to begin getting prepared for the coming chaos or for any potential disaster. This book is chock-full of survival and preparation techniques, unique and valuable tips and supply checklists. They are broken down into practical areas such as personal defense and safety, water and filtration, food and nutrition, shelter and habitat, medical and first aid, communication and navigation, signaling and other general areas. More importantly, you are benefiting from the author's experience, research and testing of products. This allows for specific recommendations to be given about select products and manufacturers. He has done most of the research for you and only suggests products that he relies on, personally, for his own family's health and safety, saving you multiple hours of research and frustration. When Things Go Boom! not only tells you what supplies you need to be prepared, it tells you why you need them and where to get them. Howard has been prepping seriously since 2001 and knows first-hand what he is talking about. Being a military veteran, a Christian and a devout husband and father, Howard has the sole desire to help others prepare, just as he prepares for his own family.

We live in an extremely fragile world right now, a world on the brink of economic, political, religious and societal collapse. Just the fact that you are reading this now, tells me that you are blatantly aware of this fact. What once was thought of as fringe thinking has now become mainstream certainty. It is coming and it is coming soon. The world will never be the same. Howard is not a man prone to paranoia or any extremist beliefs, he just sees what is coming, acknowledges what most of us already know in the depths of our being and is taking a stand for prudent preparedness. The time to prepare is not the day after disaster strikes. The time is now and, When Things Go Boom! will be the definitive book to help you get there.

This month's edition of Weekend Homesteader focuses on what August is best known for --- the sun. You'll take advantage of solar energy directly by drying tomatoes or peaches in your car and clothes on the line, then will collect the sun's energy indirectly when you start a fall garden and find local produce in abundance.

For those of you who are new to the Weekend Homesteader, this monthly ebook series walks you through fun and easy projects that introduce growing your own food, cooking the bounty, preparing for emergency power outages, and achieving financial independence.

Build your way to a more self-sufficient lifestyle with step-by-step projects for backup and supplementary utilities--including independent water, heat, and electricity--growing and storing food, raising small livestock, beekeeping, and more. Many of the projects require basic materials available at your everyday home center, but this book also provides valuable DIY resources for solar, hydro, greenhouse, and gardening needs. This book will help you build security with utility backup systems and become more sustainable, resulting in less dependence on city systems for basic needs. Whether you have a city plot or simply pots, this book includes all of the information needed to plan, build, and succeed with greater self-sufficiency.

Just the same as when I watch the videos on YouTube, I remain skeptical while reading. I have a rule to read the text interpret the idea and visualize the outcome as my own.

Good Reading!
